John Wiley & Sons, Inc., has announced the launch of the New Directions for Evaluation Backfile Collection. The launch represents the online debut of the first 88 issues of the journal, from Issue No. 1 (published in 1978) to Issue No. 88 (published in January 2000). The New Directions for Evaluation Backfile Collection is available via Wiley InterScience, Wiley's online publishing platform.
New Directions for Evaluation is an official publication of the American Evaluation Association. First published under the title New Directions for Program Evaluation, the journal provides program administrators, institutional researchers, and all evaluation specialists techniques and procedures for conducting evaluations of all types of programs from educational to health. With the launch of the Backfile Collection, subscribers will now have online access to approximately 10,000 editorial pages and 550 articles of new journal content that has been previously out of print.
Each issue is thematic and explores a specific topic in detail. Topics have included methodological debates, such as qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluation; the connection between evaluation and broader social questions; shared experiences and lessons learned from notable practitioners and scholars in the field; and presentations of new and groundbreaking approaches to evaluation. All journal articles are presented in a searchable PDF format, with abstracts, bibliographic content, and literature citations all available in HTML, allowing for both internal linking to cited content located on Wiley InterScience, as well as external linking via CrossRef/DOI to the content of hundreds of publishers worldwide.
