Thomson Gale, part of The Thomson Corporation, has announced the addition of seven publishers to the roster of partners contributing works for Gale's Virtual Reference Library. Bernan Press, Philip's, M. E. Sharpe, John Harper Publishing, Idea Group Reference, Linworth Publishing, and Thomson Course Technology are the latest additions to the list of program affiliates.
Bernan Press, a distributor of publications from the U.S. government and intergovernmental organizations, will offer two titles to Gale's Virtual Reference Library; Philip's, a division of the Octopus Publishing Group specializing in maps, atlases, and reference books, shall make its Astronomy Encyclopedia available this year; M. E. Sharpe provides titles from two imprints, M. E. Sharpe and Sharpe Reference. M. E. Sharpe specializes in reference books, textbooks, general interest titles, and journals focused on the social sciences and humanities. Sharpe Reference offers music/art, history/political, and civil/human rights titles targeted to high school, public, and college library researchers; John Harper Publishing will contribute titles drawn from its two primary areas of concentration: Global Political Reference, whose topics include revolutionary and dissident movements, political parties and territorial disputes; and European Union, covering a succession of titles concerned with key institutions of the European Union government; Idea Group Reference will contribute thirty titles on information science and technology topics; Linworth Publishing, Inc. provides professional resources for K-12 school library media and technology specialists; and Thomson Course Technology will provide ten titles supporting popular undergraduate courses and degrees.
