Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. Chooses LexisNexis Total Search

Feb 03, 2004

Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P has implemented LexisNexis Total Search, a Web browser-based application, in an effort to boost the firm's knowledge management capabilities. Available from LexisNexis U.S., a provider of legal, news, and business information services, LexisNexis Total Search and its integrated search functionality allows users to search the lexis.com service and the law firm's internal work product simultaneously.

With LexisNexis Total Search, Squire, Sanders & Dempsey attorneys and employees can find relevant work product--including existing pleadings, transactional materials, memoranda and motions written by in-firm experts--together with information from LexisNexis. Additionally, LexisNexis Total Search provides cross-referencing and integration between LexisNexis content and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey's internal work product. Users at the firm now will have the Shepard's treatment integrated into their internal work product, and when case law is cited in other internal work product, it is identified along with a link to the citing document.

With this knowledge management tool, Squire, Sanders & Dempsey attorneys and employees expect to realize multiple benefits including: integration of Shepard's on-point results with internal work product and LexisNexis content in real time; a high level of security for controlling document access and entitlement, and maintenance of confidentiality for Squire, Sanders & Dempsey's assets; reliance on more than citations to achieve cross-referencing between the lexis.com service and the firm's internal work product; and the ability to search LexisNexis news, business and financial materials as well as cases and codes.
