Semantico, a provider of services and technology for online publishing, released an e-commerce component for its Semantico Access Management System (SAMS). The SAMS e-commerce component lets end users purchase e-books immediately through personal accounts, without needing to request that someone authorize the purchase.

While searching for publications, users will receive prompts to buy a subscription to publications not currently available through their library or department. In order to purchase access, the user will be required to create a personal account, allowing publishers to gather details about end users and interact directly with them. The module can be integrated with existing merchant accounts or can use Paypal as a bureau service.
