BEST PRACTICES SERIES

Seattle Book Company is launching Version 2.0 of its Express ePublishing System as an integrated conversion and distribution system. Powered by its proprietary RosettaMachine, Seattle Book Company's publishing technology offers real-time conversion to seven different ebook formats and print-on-demand. Version 2.0 of the Express ePublishing System introduces an automated distribution service that expands a publisher's access to channel partners without manually distributing to multiple vendors who have varying technology requirements. Version 2.0 boasts more robust features and user-friendliness including a contextual help system and a tutorial. In addition to multi-format conversion, Seattle Book now offers services designed to ease the marketing and distribution of both pre-release and final editions. A single interface manages the distribution of ebook files and metadata to selected channel partners. Express BookGalley Services provide a pre-released ebook download and custom-hosted Web site featuring an email invitation service to promote a new title. Seattle Book has created custom interfaces with such distribution partners as Lightening Source, MobiPocket, ContentReserve and RR Bowker. In addition, Seattle Book is identifying print-on-demand partners who can take publishers' files converted by Seattle Book and quickly fill print-on-demand orders. Fidlar Doubleday, a digital printer in Kalamazoo, MI, is one such POD partner.
