Rackspace’s CNAMES Helps Integrate Cloud Files with Sites

Rackspace Hosting, through a partnership with Akamai, is adding CNAMES to its overall Cloud Files product offering, letting customers include cloud files in site URLs. Rackspace Cloud Files gives businesses tools for building new applications in the cloud. Cloud Files is built on OpenStack's Object Storage technology and serves content through its Akamai-based Content Delivery Network (CDN) offering.        

In addition to CNAMES, Rackspace Cloud Files now includes features like edge purge, which lets customers to edit or delete content on the edge server; HTTP compression to rapidly download compressed; secure delivery through SSL; metadata management; and support for very large files such as backups, videos, or HD movies.
