News Corp. Launches Android App for The Daily Newspaper

Jan 11, 2012

The Daily newspaper, owned by News Corp., teamed up with Verizon Wireless to create an Android-compatible app. The Daily was previously available exclusively for the iPad. The Android app will be available by subscription on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet beginning this month; owners of the device will receive The Daily as part of a software update.

In the future, the app will come pre-loaded on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, and other compatible devices. The Daily offers a one-week free trial, after which, users can subscribe for $3.99 per month or $39.99 per year.

The Daily was the third top-grossing iPad app in the Apple iTunes Store in 2011 and has earned acclaim for its use of multimedia and interactive features.
