Microsoft is rumored to have agreed to buy Silicon Valley semantic search engine, Powerset. The purchase price is said to be near $100 million. An official announcement is expected next month. Powerset, based in San Francisco, applies natural language processing to search, aiming to improve the way users find information by attempting to understand the full meanings of phrases typed while searching.
