Kanisa, a provider of knowledge-empowered customer service applications, and Ask Jeeves, Inc., a provider of Web-wide search, have entered into a definitive agreement under which Kanisa will acquire Jeeves Solutions, the enterprise software division of Ask Jeeves. Jeeves Solutions' search technology and analytics are intended to enable Kanisa to offer a larger, more robust suite of customer service solutions to corporate customers worldwide. With this acquisition, Kanisa acquires a business unit with over 35 customers. Prominent Jeeves Solutions customers include Nike, Cincinnati Bell, Novartis, and Ford. Kanisa will assume Jeeves Solutions' obligations under certain existing business contracts, including customer support. In addition, Kanisa intends to offer employment to selected development, support and services, and sales and marketing personnel from Jeeves Solutions.
