IBM has announced a new hardware and software solution designed to help small- and mid-sized clients address the challenges of email management and governance, improve email efficiency, and support legal requests. The new IBM CommonStore EMail Archiving Solution is a hardware and software solution that helps clients install and automate email management and improve email system performance. It allows email to be retrieved to satisfy compliance audit reviews and legal discovery orders.
Available through IBM Business Partners, the solution works with existing email servers to offload email and attachments from the messaging system to provide virtually unlimited user mailbox space, while preserving email in an archive for long term access. Powered by IBM BladeCenter servers based on the latest AMD Opteron processor, it comes completely preloaded and pre-tested with IBM DB2 Content Manager and IBM DB2 CommonStore to support IBM Lotus Notes or Microsoft Exchange. It also includes Tivoli Storage Manager, software that manages IBM and multi-vendor storage systems, and WebSphere Application Server.
IBM has also announced new software for search and advanced discovery of email messages, to help clients use compliance regulations as an opportunity to transform key business processes and improve efficiency. IBM EMail Search for CommonStore for Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange helps clients retrieve email messages for regulatory purposes or to comply with legal discovery orders. Using a web-based interface, IBM EMail Search for CommonStore provides refined search capabilities of emails and attachments, and the ability to place emails on hold to prevent time-based disposition of the email. IBM DB2 Records Manager can be added for records management, auditing, and reporting of email. Both can be added to the IBM CommonStore EMail Archiving Preload solution for enhanced compliance and litigation support. IBM EMail Search for CommonStore for Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange will be available from IBM and IBM Business Partners later this quarter. The IBM CommonStore EMail Archiving Preload will be available through IBM Business Partners in fourth quarter 2006.
