IBM closed on its acquisition of San Mateo, Calif.-based web analytics software company Coremetrics. IBM plans to use Coremetrics' cloud-based technology to expand its business analytics software offerings, as well as the capabilities of its 5,000-person Business Analytics and Optimization Consulting organization. While terms of the deal itself were not disclosed, the acquisition of Coremetrics is part of an $11 billion investment over the past 5 years to expand IBM's business analytics division. All 230 Coremetrics employees will join IBM.
