HarperStudio to Shut Down

Apr 06, 2010

HarperStudio, a publishing division of HarperCollins, will close its doors, according to a HarperCollins memo released on the company's Scribd site. The division opened in 2008 as an alternative to the traditional publishing model, replacing high author advances with more equitable profit splits and providing a more open online presence.

The company will be shutting down the imprint after only 2 years, as the Summer 2010 batch of releases will be the last under the HarperStudio brand. Afterwards, the company will be working out new deals and new release plans with HarperStudio's authors.
