Google Launches Ebookstore

Dec 07, 2010

Google dove headlong into the ebooks arena with the Google eBookstore, an online storefront included more than 3,000,000 ebook titles. The store includes both current bestsellers and a variety of classics, and is compatible with numerous portable devices, smartphones, and tablets. The service is also tied into the Google eBooks Web Reader, which allows users to read, store, and purchase ebooks through cloud computing.

The service is also interoperable with free apps for both Android and iOS devices. Google's ebooks are available both through its Google eBookstore storefront and through a network of independent bookseller partners, including Powell's, Alibris, and participating members of the American Booksellers Association.
