Ektron, Inc. has announced version 4.0 of Ektron CMS300. Ektron's browser-based Web content management system is intended to enable organizations to affordably exploit XML's data collection, storage, and presentation capabilities in a simple, straightforward, and coherent way. In version 4.0, Ektron offers several new features including version 4.0 of Ektron eWebEditPro+XML, an editing tool that is designed to hide XML and XSLT complexities from business and technical users. Unveiled in October 2003, version 4.0 includes a new Design Mode feature, which automates the manual step of creating XML structure and supporting documents (XSLTs, schemas, etc.).

Ektron CMS300 version 4.0 also includes: improved audit trail capabilities to address legal and regulatory compliance issues with improved granularity for tracking content authors, modifications, etc.; enhanced international language support to enable management of metadata and teasers with XML; content randomization functionality to vary content shown on different pages at different times; internal search to improve capabilities for locating and accessing content (documents, images, etc) being managed in the system; improved meta-tagging, allowing users to assign meta-tags from drop-down lists; and industry-specific sample sites to help organizations in hospitality, healthcare, education and other verticals.

Ektron CMS300 is a browser-based XML content management system designed to manage HTML, XHTML, and XML content in a scalable environment. Some organizations use it for basic HTML editing and content management needs, then advance to XML. Ektron's component-based application is used in Microsoft ASP, ASP.Net, PHP or ColdFusion Web application server environments. Pricing is $4,999 for a 10-user license and $19,999 for enterprise licensing.
