Context Media, Inc. has announced the release of Intershare, a Web Services software client designed to provide organizations universal desktop access to enterprise content. The new software client, which works in tandem with Context Media's Interchange Suite, gives users the ability to access and use content stored in commercial or homegrown content management or digital asset management systems. Content access is enabled by clicking the "Open File" or "Insert File" command and importing content to the desktop. The Intershare client integrates with the Windows Operating System and leverages the Unified Content View (UCV) capabilities of Context Media's Interchange Suite in an effort to allow users to browse and access content stored on commercial or home-grown content management or digital asset management systems from the desktop application of their choosing. Intershare presents an enterprise-wide content catalog on the user's desktop, with point-and-click accessibility. To the user, accessing enterprise content is the same as accessing a shared file system or disk drive on a local computer. The Web browser-based client is certified for Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 and above. All enterprise content, regardless of its ECM/DAM repository, is now accessible in a single Unified Content View (UCV). Intershare is a fully compliant implementation of the SOAP 1.2 protocol specification from the W3C.
