BEST PRACTICES SERIES

MarketWatch.com, Inc., AFX News Ltd., and Xinhua Financial Network (XFN), three real time business news providers from North America, Europe, and Asia, are joining forces to create the "World Business News Alliance" (WBN), a global news service for the financial community. The service will debut on the financial terminals of Thomson Financial, a resource for information and technology applications in the global financial services industry, and Moneyline Telerate, a provider of real-time information and transaction services. The focus of the World Business News Alliance is to provide an affordable, real-time, global financial news feed for institutional clients. Through shared operations, knowledge, technology, and resources, WBN expects to realize cost savings, which it can pass along to its customers. The WBN Alliance creates an international news gathering network with about 5,000 journalists producing 10,000 news items each day for its customers. Local partners of the founders include: CBS MarketWatch; AFX News, AFP (worldwide news agency), dpa and dpa-AFX (Germany), ANP and ANP-AFX (Netherlands), sda/ats and AWP (Switzerland), APA (Austria); and XFN and the former AFX Asia network and Xinhua News Agency (China).
