CAS Releases SciFinder 2007

Sep 12, 2006

Chemical Abstracts Service has announced it will release SciFinder 2007 in the fourth quarter of 2006, designed for scientists to fine-tune their answer sets for chemistry-related literature, substances, and reactions.

Other features of SciFinder 2007 are designed to enable users to process records, including those for commercially available chemicals. SciFinder 2007 introduces new options and features designed to enhance the exploration of CAS' information resources, including: the ability for users to combine answer sets for substances, reactions, and references so that users can combine a saved answer set with an "active" set of answers in SciFinder, to arrive at a focused set of answers; the ability for users to export commercial chemical records from CHEMCATS into Excel so users can move catalog information for commercially available chemicals into spreadsheets for sorting and manipulation; the ability for a user to explore from substance display so users can capture a chemical structure from a substance answer display, then use it to search by structure in the CAS Registry database; the ability for users to print structures in thumbnail display format so multiple chemical structures can be printed in a grid arrangement; and new options to view full journal titles and use the full or abbreviated titles in the bibliographic software packages Reference Manager, EndNote, and ProCite.
