AT&T and One Economy Team Up for Life-Improving Application Prizes

Mar 17, 2011

AT&T and One Economy-a global nonprofit that works towards bringing broadband opportunity to underserved communities-chose this week's South by Southwest (SXSW) festival to announce a contest for developers to design mobile applications that help low-income users improve their lives. AT&T and One Economy are offering $50,000 in prizes to software developers who can design applications that help families with tasks such as finding jobs, improving health and well being, improving education, and building financial security. The contest began on March 14 and ended on May 16, 2011.

A panel of judges from leading corporations and both education and financial organizations will choose one winner in each of the following categories: jobs, health, education, and banking. A grand prize winner will also receive $10,000. Applications are being accepted on any operating system, and the public will have an opportunity to vote for a popular choice winner through the website.
