Convera and T-Systems Launch Online Film Distribution Platform |
T-Systems, part of the Deutsche Telekom group, Convera, and Marco Polo Archive have announced the launch of FootageBox, an Internet platform that enables people in the media industry to search film archives, view materials online, and order and obtain footage electronically. T-Systems' FootageBox allows owners of archived film and video to market their films over the Internet. Marco Polo Archive uses the FootageBox platform to market its source archive of more than 3,000 hours of nature films and documentaries to the media community. Ultimately FootageBox is intended to create additional revenue streams for both small and large players in the media industry by providing access to footage that may otherwise be unavailable. Supported by Convera's RetrievalWare, FootageBox indexes each sequence of a film to enable a rapid and targeted method of retrieving and delivering video footage. Its ability to apply concepts to search words means that, in the case of Marco Polo Archive, animal names can be retrieved on an international basis as the system searches for the associated English, Latin, and German version of the name regardless of the original language used. The concept search functionality also provides users with the ability to start with a frame from one film and search for similar scenes in other films. To deliver such content via the Internet, T-Systems has leveraged its international network infrastructure to deliver HDTV data (High Definition Television) to other continents via satellite links. LexisNexis SmartLinx Enhanced With Visual Link Discovery Technology |
LexisNexis, a provider of information to legal, corporate, government, and academic customers, has enhanced its LexisNexis SmartLinx public records link discovery application with the anacubis visualization technology from i2, Inc, for the law enforcement market. i2's visualization technology enables SmartLinx users to generate a picture of connections between people, places, assets, and locations; revealing relationships that may not be readily apparent within raw data. SmartLinx can now depict entities such as people and organizations as icons and relationships between those entities are represented as links. Clicking within a SmartLinx summary opens a link view, revealing connections between the target of the search and any assets, addresses, business links, associated entities, liens, and judgments or any other related data generated within SmartLinx. Once the link view is generated, users can manipulate the icons to expand relationships, show source documents, or filter out unnecessary information. Law enforcement users can also access additional SmartLinx reports on the associated entities. LexisNexis SmartLinx uses linking technology to dissect and analyze 1.9 billion documents from 1636 sources and link related names, addresses, phone numbers, and other information to appropriate people, businesses, and locations. The SmartLinx reports allows the investigator to link to original source documents and associated entities. The i2 visualization technology in SmartLinx is designed to address the needs of investigators and analysts across a wide range of industries in addition to law enforcement, such as insurance, financial services, military and intelligence services, personnel management, entertainment, media, retail, and immigration control. Some features of the anacubis-enhanced SmartLinx include: one click converts the data from a SmartLinx summary into a link view; the ability to move components in a chart; access to link data with mouse hovering; access to SmartLinx reports on associated entities; and drag-and-drop capability for users of i2's Analyst's Notebook 6. Weather Forecast, LLC to Target divine TrueLook Clients |
Weather Forecast, LLC, in a move similar to Stellent Inc., a content management provider, will offer businesses currently using the divine TrueLook software the ability to switch to it's WeatherView software solution and offer credits and future discounts for service. Stellent, Inc. is not affiliated with Weather Forecast, LLC, nor are their offers combined in any way. The credit will be based on a formula that takes into consideration client's purchase of equipment and license fees paid to divine, and is a direct response to former divine customer requests upon divine's announcement on February 25, 2003 that it has filed for bankruptcy. A client does not need to be a "weather type" client to have the controllable software solution added to their current robotic camera interface and is designed to offer a complete turnkey solution to clients. Weather Forecast, LLC is also working to place an offer in the bankruptcy court in Boston for the assets of the TrueLook portion of divine's business and has been in contact with other interested parties that have offered to purchase divine in whole through the bankruptcy court.
