DocPath announced that its document management software is now available to small- and medium-sized business (SMB) customers on a subscription basis. DocPath's software can be used in the design and creation of a document, as well as in the document's subsequent distribution and storage. The introduction of a channel program is intended to lower the cost of the solution to business of all sizes.

Brightcove and Ektron announced a partnership and integration designed to streamline the process of online video publishing and content management. ZeroDesktop integrated its cloud-based ZeroPC "transferable desktop" with a productivity suite equivalent to Microsoft Office developed by ThinkFree. ZoomInfo has released a plug-in that finds active business contacts in users' email messages and automatically uploads the information to the ZoomInfo B2B directory. Gale, part of Cengage Learning, and Portico, a part of the not-for-profit organization ITHAKA, announced that Gale will be preserving three additional digital historical collections with Portico. This follows the completed adoption of 10 Gale Digital Collections, including 19th Century U.S. Newspapers, The Making of Modern Law: Primary Resources and Eighteenth Century Collections Online. The collection represents over 80 million files, which doubled the size of the Portico archive in just one year.

Quark is preparing to release of a large number of XTensions that expand the functionality of the recently-announced QuarkXPress 9, the company's graphic design and page-layout software. QuarkXPress 9 XTensions will give users hundreds of additional ways to add more functionality to QuarkXPress, and were developed by members of QuarkAlliance. Elearning marketplace OpenSesame announced a new philanthropic partnership with LINGOs (Learning in Non Governmental Organizations), a global consortium of humanitarian organizations. The company plans to work with LINGOs to use the OpenSesame community of elearning buyers and sellers to donate courses and services to LINGOs member organizations. New research released by Publishing Technology at BML's annual Books & Consumers Conference found that a third of UK trade publishers surveyed predict that over 10% of their total book revenue will come from ebooks by 2012. The research project was conducted by BML and aimed to survey a selection of hand-picked senior executives at top publishers in the UK publishing industry.

The Meltwater Group, a social media and news monitoring company, announced the acquisition of social CRM software JitterJam. The companies plan to focus on creating tools for tracking and engaging customers for marketing, communications, and advertising professionals. The purchase was made for $6 million, and per the terms of the agreement all of JitterJam's employees will be joining Meltwater.

AT&T agreed to acquire T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom for $39 billion of combined cash and stock. According to AT&T, the acquisition provides the network assets necessary to add capacity, and it will offer the carrier an opportunity to improve network quality for customers of both AT&T and T-Mobile.

An agreement between EBSCO and IGI Global will allow metadata for 131 journals and more than 1,500 reference books to be added to the base index of EDS. IGI Global is an international publishing company that specializes in scholarly research publications and databases. Salesforce.com will now let users take advantage of Opus' Data View architecture, which lets Opus users create custom services that use standard web services provided by other systems to pull data and insert it into required documents. Springer Science+Business Media is expanding its open access offerings with the acquisition of 12 journals from Hindawi Publishing Corporation, a commercial publisher of peer-reviewed journals covering a wide range of academic disciplines. The journals include seven titles published in cooperation with the European Association for Signal Processing, as well as four mathematics journals and one medical journal. The takeover of the twelve journals is scheduled for the end of March.
