Adobe Launches New Servers and Solutions |
Adobe Systems Incorporated has unveiled its new line of server-based products and solutions designed to automate document-intensive processes that companies rely on to run their businesses. Aimed at closing the gap between enterprise systems and traditional documents--such as forms, contracts, customized reports, and invoices--the new Adobe network publishing solutions focus on improving document generation, collaboration, and process management throughout the enterprise. The Adobe network publishing solutions address the document-intensive processes found in financial institutions, government agencies, manufacturing, and other regulated industries. The products, professional services, and support that make up these solutions integrate enterprise applications with the flow of documents throughout an organization. The Adobe Document Server is designed to let customers dynamically assemble customized Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files singularly or in volume from a variety of data sources including eXtensible Markup Language (XML) content. The new Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions uses Acrobat Reader to provide a universal way for businesses and government agencies to interact directly with customers, partners, and citizens. It enables organizations to securely capture information by allowing individuals to fill in, save, and submit electronic forms online using a new release of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, version 5.1. These new server products are in addition to Adobe's existing family of server solutions, including the Adobe Form Server, Adobe Workflow Server, and Adobe Central Output Server. Additional enhancements to DialogPRO will be announced in 2003, including expanded content channel options that leverage the content resources of Dialog and other Thomson businesses. DialogPRO is modeled after WestlawPRO, a packaged pricing option for small law firms offered by West, also a Thomson business. Neoteris Targets Secure Access Needs of State and Local Governments; IVEs Provide Solution for eGovernment Compliance |
Neoteris, a provider of instant virtual extranet (IVE) products, has announced a targeted development and marketing initiative to assist state and local governments with their secure access needs. Through this effort, Neoteris aims to help governments increase operational efficiency as well as aid in compliance with federal and state information security statues and eGovernment initiatives. As the public demand for secure access increases, Neoteris' IVE products are intended to offer an alternative to expensive and complex virtual private networks (VPNs) and custom extranets. With Neoteris products, authorized users can securely access applications and information remotely from any Internet-enabled computing device with a Web browser. In the case of government, authorized users can include government employees, contractors, private citizens, or other government agencies. Because Neoteris grants access at the application layer, rather than the network layer, network resources are not vulnerable to traditional network attacks. The Neoteris IVE also supports granular access controls to the URL or file level, so only those with a legitimate authorized need to access resources can do so. Neoteris' IVE products allow government IT officials to cost-effectively provision instant, secure access to specified network applications and private information. The Neoteris products reduce the cost, complexity, and security risks associated with traditional access technologies such as VPNs and custom extranets. The IVE requires neither client device software deployments, nor changes to existing LAN infrastructure, thus reducing deployment. (http://www.neoteris.com) |
