Job Description

Viacom Media Networks is looking for a Director of Product Management to manage a wide range of responsibilities in accordance with its digital video player platform. 

 

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, has spirit, ambition and is eager to be a part of an advanced team that manages a mature product serving 170+ customers, across 6 continents and delivers 6+ billion streams annually.  

 

The right candidate will have the ambition of working in a start-up with the sophistication of managing high-value clients and world-class video experiences.  The role is creative at times and analytical at others.  It requires solid product development as well as project management skills.

 

This role will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the video player platform.  Position reports to the VP, Product Management - Video.

 

Responsibilities

·         Serve as day-to-day product owner building Flash and HTML 5 video player experiences along with associated management tools.

·         Modernize the current platform and optimize for emerging platforms including phones, tablets, connected TVs, game consoles, and digital STBs.

·         Serve as product evangelist and primary brand liaison, working to improve brand understanding of platform features, functionality and implementation details.

·         Define and manage product roadmap.

·         Collaborate with brands and actively participate in designing and executing last-mile consumer experiences across most Viacom properties.

·         Chair product council, working with brands to define upcoming priorities and scalable video experiences

·         Participate in an ‘executive producer’ role for video delivery of live events.

·         Design and implement next-generation video experience POCs

·         Work with vendors to manage integrations of key aspects of the platform.

·         Work with technology companies to assess, implement, and deployment emerging technology solutions – specifically in the delivery and security domains

·         Ensure cross-platform strategies are meeting brand needs, as well as ensure player platform is meeting development deadlines

·         Work with encoding teams to manage specs, costs and debug issues

·         Manage & monitor QoS solutions

·         Partner with advertising teams to define video advertising experiences and custom ad products.

·         Work with metrics teams to define KPIs for product and drive product solutions based upon statistical analysis.

·         Manage a team of product developers and divide tasks appropriately.

·         Work closely with tech lead and lead the implementation of products in adherence to Agile/Scrum methodology.

·         Participate and assist with executive presentations

·         Drive user testing and coordinate execution with internal resources

 

Requirements:

·         Very familiar with modern web conventions and best practices

·         Deep Flash, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Ajax knowledge

·         Expert in video streaming technologies

·         Experience building flash and html 5 video players

·         Expert in Agile / Scrum methodologies

·         Proficient wireframe skills for making clean and well documented experiences. (OmniGraffle experience preferred)

·         Excellent written and verbal communication

·         Keen sense of modern graphic design aesthetic

·         8+ years with designing, developing, and deploying web sites

·         5+ years with web-based video experiences - preferably with premium content offering
