Access Innovations, Inc. announced the Author Submit extension module as part of the Data Harmony Version 3.9 release. Author Submit is an application for integration of author-selected subject metadata information into a publishing workflow during the submissions or upload process. It also facilitates the addition of taxonomy terms by the author.

Access Innovations began like many entrepreneurial enterprises—with a great idea, a few energetic people, and a little bit of capital. Incorporated in October 1978, the company's first headquarters was the kitchen of President Marjorie M.K. Hlava's Albuquerque home. The original product was to be a database of solar energy information and resources. It soon became clear, however, that the database building process was of more value to potential customers than the database itself.

Access Innovations, a data management firm, has partnered with AIP Publishing LLC, a physical science publisher, to produce a list of about 980,000 discrete academic authors and 33,000 institutions involved in publishing physics papers worldwide. Dating back to the early 20th century, the complete dataset contains more than 800,000 articles.
