SDL LiveContent responds to a customer's requests with targeted product information, which it generates from a content database.

Ingram Content Group, Inc. and O'Reilly Media partnered to come up with an inventory management initiative integrating O'Reilly's content with Ingram's print, distribution, and inventory management models. The new program uses real-time consumer demand, retail inventory requirements, and demand forecasting to enable O'Reilly to shift its traditional business model from inventory-based approach to an on-demand model.

Ingram Content Group, Inc., announced that the Lightning Source print on demand (POD) operation will be based in Melbourne, Australia. The company placed the group's fifth networked book manufacturing facility in Melbourne based on its proximity to a large concentration of major publishers and book distributors and to key metropolitan regions in Australia.

Elearning marketplace OpenSesame announced a new philanthropic partnership with LINGOs (Learning in Non Governmental Organizations), a global consortium of humanitarian organizations. The company plans to work with LINGOs to use the OpenSesame community of elearning buyers and sellers to donate courses and services to LINGOs member organizations. OpenSesame hopes to develop additional elearning resources for LINGOs members and bring more attention to LINGOs' mission.

New research released by Publishing Technology at BML's annual Books & Consumers Conference found that a third of UK trade publishers surveyed predict that over 10% of their total book revenue will come from ebooks by 2012. The research project was conducted by BML and aimed to survey a selection of hand-picked senior executives at top publishers in the UK publishing industry.

WoodWing Software announced that Meredith Corporation launched three of its most popular magazine brands on the iPad using WoodWing's Tablet Publishing Solution. Interactive tablet editions of Better Homes and Gardens, Fitness, and Parents are currently available for the iPad, and Meredith plans to expand to other tablet devices, including Android devices.

The University System of Ohio and Flat World Knowledge have teamed up for a joint pilot program that will allow 1,000 Ohio students to receive digital textbooks for free. Faculty in the pilot who select Flat World textbooks for their courses, and agree to participate in a research project focused on student learning, can offer their students free access to the Flat World Knowledge suite of digital learning materials and low-cost access to print textbooks.

Google simultaneously announced and released Google One Pass, a new service from the search giant that lets publishers dictate pricing and subscription models for accessing digital content. The service is designed to allow users to access their content on tablets, smartphones, and desktops, using a single sign-on. The service can also accomodate existing subscribers.

Really Strategies announced the launch of RSuite Cloud, a web-based editorial and production system for automated multilingual publishing to print, web, and ebook formats. RSuite Cloud is a hosted end-to-end content management and publishing system that lets book publishers to create, manage, and distribute single-source content to multiple channels. Lands End is launching its new digital catalogs via an app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. The company launched its digital catalog this January with an app that features enhanced functions, including touch, pinch, and zoom gestures. Future versions will also include unique content and video.

ProQuest has acquired ebrary. The agreement will combine the companies' technologies and add a quarter of a million ebooks to ProQuest's content offerings. The combined collection will enable users to search across multiple formats, including books, journals, dissertations, newspapers, and video.

Amazon's free Buy Once, Read Everywhere Kindle app now includes Windows Phone 7 devices. Kindle for Windows Phone 7 is the first major ebook application available for Windows Phone 7. It includes features built in to a Kindle app for the first time, including personalized recommendations integrated into the app home screen and the ability to send book recommendations without leaving the app. Kindle for Windows Phone 7 can be downloaded from Windows Phone Marketplace.

According to the DisplaySearch Q4'10 Quarterly TV Design and Features Report, internet-connected televisions are forecast to grow to over 122 million in 2014. The report goes on to detail that the growth was fueled by the Japanese market during 2010, and notes that emerging markets such as Eastern Europe will continue driving growth between now and 2014.

According to Google's Chrome Blog, Google Instant has been added to the browser window, allowing faster navigation to websites. Google has also overhauled V8, its JavaScript engine. Google claims V8 will now run JavaScript programs twice as fast as before.

Amazon announced that its Kindle for the Web app will enable users to buy and read full Kindle books—no download or installation required. Bookstores and other retailers, authors, bloggers, and other website owners will be able to offer their readers the full text of Kindle books from their sites and will earn referral fees through the Amazon Associates Program for sales made through their sites. Website owners can embed the Kindle for the Web widget to offer Kindle books.

DataMotion, Inc., a provider of secure information delivery solutions, launched SecureMail for Salesforce, a new application that les Salesforce users ensure sensitive emails and files sent from Salesforce Enterprise Edition are encrypted and secure. SecureMail can also be used when Salesforce is configured to automatically send out messages such as trouble ticket confirmations or messages generated from a programmed workflow, automatically encrypting such communications.

The store includes both current bestsellers and a variety of classics, and is compatible with numerous portable devices, smartphones, and tablets.
