DoubleClick Inc., a provider of data and technology solutions for marketers, advertising agencies, and Web publishers, has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Hellman & Friedman LLC, a San Francisco-based private equity firm. The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter.

Adobe Systems Incorporated has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Macromedia in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $3.4 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, which has been approved by both boards of directors, Macromedia stockholders will receive, at a fixed exchange ratio, 0.69 shares of Adobe common stock for every share of Macromedia common stock in a tax-free exchange.

Mediasurface plc, a content management provider, has announced the acquisition of Class-Act Bv, the Netherlands-based supplier of the Silverbullet content management system. The deal for the intellectual property of Silverbullet and the services of its authors, is valued at approximately $515,000, and is made up partly of cash and equity.

Fortiva Inc, a provider of email archiving solutions for compliance and legal discovery, has raised an additional $4 million in equity financing from Ventures West and Mclean Watson Capital. This amount is in addition to the $1 million invested by McLean Watson in late 2004. The funds will be used to support sales and marketing efforts as well as further product development.

Topix.net has announced that Gannett Co., Inc., Knight-Ridder, Inc., and Tribune Company jointly have acquired a 75% stake in Topix.net. Ownership is split evenly, with each media company owning 25% and the Topix.net founders retaining a 25% stake. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Under the terms of the agreement, IAC will issue 1.2668 shares of common stock for each share of Ask Jeeves common stock in a tax-free transaction valued at $1.85 billion net of cash acquired.
