The Wall Street Journal Online at WSJ.com, a paid subscription news site, and Outercurve Technologies, a provider of wireless handheld business solutions, have announced the launch of The Wall Street Journal Online for the BlackBerry platform from Research In Motion. To introduce "The Wall Street Journal for BlackBerry," Outercurve and the Online Journal are offering this service free of charge through April 30, 2005.

The Engineering division of IHS will become the exclusive distributor of SAE Historical Aerospace Standards and SAE Historical Ground Vehicle Standards via online or DVD subscriptions--available immediately for the first time in electronic format.

Xrefer and A&C Black have announced that Who's Who 2005 and the full Who's Who archive Who Was Who are now available to search and browse on the xreferplus Specialist Reference platform. Who's Who is a U.K.-based annual resource for information on people of influence and interest. It was first published in 1849 and contains over 30,000 biographies of people from all walks of life. Institutions where libraries purchase access to Who's Who 2005 online via xrefer will enable their users to search and browse for anyone whose biography has been included in the latest edition of the reference work.

Questel.Orbit, a provider of intellectual property information services, has announced the release of FamPat, its new international patent family database. FamPat is based on PlusPat, Questel.Orbit's international patent database. The FamPat patent family design groups together the patent records from the countries and patent issuing authorities in which protection for one particular invention has been applied for and/or granted. FamPat is intended to uphold the family spirit by considering the invention as the sole criterion, which enables a more precise search and a concise display which can be expanded to related inventions.

Voyager’s senior management team will remain with the company and report to Ron Klausner, president of ProQuest Information and Learning and acting president of Voyager Expanded Learning. Voyager’s headquarters will remain in Dallas, Texas.

Factiva, a Dow Jones and Reuters Company, has acquired the business and assets of 2B Reputation Intelligence Limited and Benchmarking Solutions Limited, a London-based technology and consulting business specializing in media monitoring and reputation management. The acquisition of 2B’s is expected to provide Factiva customers with editorial and visualization tools that permit the graphical representation of trends and relationships uncovered by analyzing a relevant selection of Web content along with Factiva’s collection of sources. Factiva has stated that the acquisition is intended to accelerate its strategy to offer media monitoring and reputation management solutions for corporate communications and marketing professionals based on human expertise, visualization tools, taxonomies, and text-mining technology.
