LexisNexis Legal & Professional, a provider of content and technology solutions, announced that, together with Reed Elsevier Properties SA, it has acquired the publishing brands and businesses of Sheshunoff and A.S. Pratt from the Thompson Media Group. Financial details were not disclosed.

ProQuest, an information company, has completed its acquisition of Ebook Library (EBL), significantly expanding its e-book delivery and aggregation capabilities with libraries worldwide. Kari Paulson, president of EBL, and EBL's current staff have joined ProQuest with Paulson in the role of VP and GM of the combined ebrary and EBL e-book business unit.

EBSCO and Wolters Kluwer Health, a provider of information, business intelligence and point-of-care solutions for the healthcare industry, have come to an agreement allowing metadata from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) journals on the Ovid institutional research platform to be added to EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS). This agreement extends the Wolters Kluwer Health journal portfolio on EDS with its Medknow open access medical journals currently accessible to users.

De Gruyter has announced that it has acquired publisher Ontos, which has a strong international presence, publishing some 50 titles and three journals each year in philosophy and mathematical logic. The publishing house's backlist is comprised of 300 publications, 90% of which contain English content. All books and journals are released in print and electronic form.

Hachette Book Group will make its entire digital catalog of more than 5,000 ebooks available to libraries and schools via OverDrive. Beginning May 8, OverDrive-powered libraries and schools in the U.S. and Canada will have access to authors such as David Baldacci, Sara Zarr, Sandra Brown, James Patterson, David Sedaris and Kate Atkinson. OverDrive supplies Next Generation digital library services for more than 22,000 libraries and schools, with support for all major e-reading devices, including iPad, Nook, and Kindle.

Springer and the Korea Basic Science Institute (KBSI) are partnering to publish the Journal of Analytical Science and Technology (JAST). As a fully sponsored open access journal, it will be part of the SpringerOpen portfolio, available on SpringerLink. This international peer-reviewed journal was launched by the KBSI in 2010, however, starting this year, it will be published in Springer's open access program.

Ingram Content Group announced it will add thousands of popular Harlequin titles to its MyiLibrary platform. Harlequin will add more than 12,000 titles to the MyiLibrary platform. Titles will be frontlist and backlist, nonfiction and fiction titles, and will be from multiple Harlequin imprints. The company will continue to use Ingram's Lightning Source print-on-demand solution for its print needs.
