The Financial Times and Bloomberg announced that FT customers with a corporate licence will be able to access Financial Times journalism content via the Bloomberg Professional service. The service will be available to more than 295,000 Bloomberg subscribers.

Elsevier and WebLib announced that a new application, HealthMash, is now available on the SciVerse Applications beta. WebLib developed the HealthMash application to provide insights to scientific researchers with relevant biomedical concepts related to their searches including disorders, tests, diagnoses, treatments, and drugs.

Reprints Desk, Inc. announced that it has signed a direct agreement with the Massachusetts Medical Society for the electronic distribution of articles from the New England Journal of Medicine. Reprints Desk currently has direct distribution agreements with the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and The Lancet from Elsevier.

Gale, part of Cengage Learning, is releasing Gale NewsVault, an online platform that enables cross-searching of Gale's range of historical newspaper and periodical collections from within a single interface. The service will be available to libraries that have purchased any Gale historical newspaper or periodical collection, and will allow users to simultaneously search or browse multiple products offered by their institution.

Thomson Reuters acquired GeneGo, a provider of biology and disease information, analytics, and decision support solutions for pharmaceutical research and development. GeneGo will become part of the Healthcare & Science business of Thomson Reuters. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

ProQuest is expanding its service to government markets through the acquisition of the Congressional Information Service (CIS) and University Publications of America (UPA) product lines from LexisNexis. CIS includes an exhaustive online collection of legislative content and statistical works, while UPA includes deep historical sets and information. The acquisition includes digital products and a diverse microfilm vault.

Five major Berkshire resources, 31 volumes in all, will be available for the first time through the Credo Publisher Collection service. Berkshire Publishing specializes in international relations, cross-cultural communication, global business and economic information, and environmental sustainability.

The IP Solutions business of Thomson Reuters is showing off the upcoming Japanese Language Search functionality in Thomson Innovation, the company's intellectual property research and analysis program. The Japanese search capability will be publicly available in December and will let researchers search Japanese patent documents in Japanese and seamlessly link to global patent content for comprehensive research.

Cambridge Journals Online, the online publishing service for journals at Cambridge University Press, has launched a mobile version to help readers browse or carry out research on the move. CJO Mobile (CJOm) offers a streamlined version of the journals platform CJO and allows users to search for journal content, read articles, save favorite articles, and register for journal content alerts on their hand-held devices. Anything saved in mobile can be picked up again when back at a desktop machine, and vice versa.

STM publisher Elsevier released Image Search, a new SciVerse ScienceDirect feature that helps users find images and figures relevant to their specific research objectives.The new feature lets researchers search more than 15 million images contained within SciVerse ScienceDirect. Results include tables, photos, figures, graphs and videos from trusted, peer-reviewed sources.

EBSCO Publishing released Jewish Studies Source, a full-text database devoted to the study of Judaism. The database offers a multidisciplinary look at the study of Jewish civilization from its historical origins to the present, covering a variety of areas of study, including archaeology, anthropology, area studies, ethnic studies, history, languages, philosophy, political science, religious studies, and women's studies.

Safari Books Online released a free global iPad app called Safari To Go. The app allows Safari Books online subscribers to view book content on their iPad. While the app is similar in function to the Safari Books Online app currently available for the iPhone, iPod touch, BlackBerry, and Android mobile devices, the company reports that it built the iPad app from the ground up.
