Mark Somol has been named CFO of web content management and marketing software company Percussion Software. In this new position, Somol will lead all of Percussion's finance, accounting, and corporate strategies.

Previously, Somol had been CFO and COO at Mzinga, a social software and analytics company. Previous to that, Somol had been with venture capital fund NeoCarta Ventures working on operations and raising capital for other companies.

The Board of Directors of Xing AG in Hamburg, Germany, appointed Thomas Vollmoeller as the new CEO. Vollmoeller will assume the role effective August 15, 2012. Previous to being named CEO, Vollmoeller was the acting CEO of Swiss company Valora.

Xing is a social network for business professionals and Xing says it looks forward to utilizing Vollmoeller's experience and expertise to lead them forward.

It was announced today that Safari Books Online has hired Peter Collingridge as VP of product development. In this new role, Collingridge will be defining and executing the product strategy for all the Safari Books Online and leading a global product development team. 

In addition to being VP of product development, he will be on the company’s Executive Committee. Collingridge has been working in the publishing industry since 1997.
