LYRASIS appointed Gregory Cotton, Jim Pierce, and Jim Scheppke to its Board of Trustees. Cotton will spend three years on the board, from 2010 to 2013, while Scheppke will serve for two years. Pierce will also serve on the board for three years. Cotton and Scheppke both have many years of experience in the field of library sciences, while Pierce is a certified public accountant and serves as Georgia Tech's Director of Treasury Services.
ProQuest named Michael Gersch as its senior vice president and general manager of the Serials Solutions business unit. Gersch replaces Rob Mercer, who will move to a different senior role within ProQuest. Gersch most recently served as vice president and managing director of Litigation Solutions for LexisNexis.
Knovel is adding Richard J. Harrington to its board of directors. The former president and CEO of Thomson Corporation, now Thomson Reuters, Harrington is currently General Partner at Cue Ball Capital.
AOL announced that Jim Wiatt will take over as strategic advisor to the company. Wiatt was formerly the chairman and chief executive of the William Morris Agency, and in his new position as strategic advisor will report directly to chairman and CEO Tim Armstrong. Wiatt will also step down from his post on AOL's Board of Directors to take over the new role.
