YouTube Launches Standalone Virtual Reality App

Nov 10, 2016

Google upgraded its Cardboard VR headset with Daydream and YouTube launched its new VR app to coincide with that launch. In a blog post, YouTube said “We want to continue to provide you with new ways to engage with the world and with your community, and we believe virtual reality will play an important role in the future of storytelling.” The YouTube VR app is available on Daydream, and optimized for VR. You’ll also need a phone optimized to work with Daydream.

According the blog post, “The app even includes some familiar features like voice search and a signed in experience so you can follow the channels you subscribe to, check out your playlists and more.”
