Vox Media and BuzzFeed Get Big Investments from NBCUniversal

Aug 13, 2015

According to Re/Code, NBCUniversal is making investments in a couple of digital native media outlets that are growing quickly. Vox Media and BuzzFeed will each receive $200 million. Vox posted a brief announcement on its site, while the BuzzFeed deal is expected to be announced later in the week.

As Re/Code says about NBCUniversal, "The company, which has more or less ignored digital publishing since Comcast acquired it a few years ago, gets significant stakes in fast-growing digital publishers." But the article also alludes to the fact that either company will be easier for NBCU to purchase in the future.
