A group of New York and Silicon Valley investors has pooled $2.5 million in seed funding for Vook, the startup company behind the product of the same name. A vook is a mixed-media form that combines elements of text, video, images, and social networking into a single product.
Since its debut late last year, Vook has inked partnership agreements with Simon & Schuster, HarperStudio, and Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. and announced plans to produce vooks by Anne Rice and Seth Godin.
The Vook investors include Ron Conway, Kenneth Lerer, chairman of the Huffington Post, Maples Investments, Baseline Ventures and Founder Collective. The company plans to use the funds to expedite growth and support its plans for expansion in 2010.
