BEST PRACTICES SERIES

Knovel Corporation, a Web-based research and infoware resource for engineers, scientists, and researchers, has announced that the U.S. Navy, via the Naval General Library Program (NGLP) out of Pensacola, Florida, has become the company's newest subscriber. The Navy's original goal of providing econtent was to provide library services to a greater number of Sailors and Marines deployed worldwide. With Knovel, information mined from subject-related resource texts is available to Sailors and Marines, as well as Reservists, retirees, and Department of the Navy civilian and non-appropriated fund (NAF) personnel. Of particular interest to the Navy is the fact that the World Wide Web can be accessed by Navy and related personnel both on-shore and at sea. The engineering and research elements of the other U.S. armed forces groups are currently Knovel subscribers.
