Is Twitter getting into the music business? That is the question that the digital rumor mill is trying to answer. We Are Hunted, a music discovery site, confirmed an acquisition deal with Twitter-which reportedly took place in 2012. Combined with the invite-only music.twitter.com, it would seem that the microblogging site is preparing to get into the music game in a big way.
We Are Hunted is in the process of shutting down, and is keeping pretty quiet about what it is working on with the folks at Twitter, but it did say this on its site: "There's no question that Twitter and music go well together. Artists turn to Twitter first to connect with fans, and people share and discover new songs and albums every day. We can't wait to share what we've been working on at Twitter."
Speculators suggest the project is a recommendation app, and according to the BBC, none other than Ryan Seacrest himself all but confirmed it, tweeting: "playing with @twitter's new music app (yes it's real!)... there's a serious dance party happening at idol right now".
