Thomson ISI Releases BIOSIS Previews 3.0

May 07, 2004

Thomson ISI, a business of The Thomson Corporation, has announced the release of BIOSIS Previews version 3.0. Enhancements to the product upgrade include more relevant content, improved consistency, the inclusion of more than nine million CAS Registry Numbers (the international resource for chemical substance identifiers) entries to the 1969-1992 data segment, and the addition of more than 6,300 sequence data accession numbers. In addition, each record within the database has been augmented with BIOSIS Major Concepts in an effort to improve search results; more complete taxonomic data; remapped Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) disease terms and Biosystematic Codes; and streamlined patent indexing.

Other improvements designed to make navigating the extensive subject indexing more intuitive include: search aids for Organism classifiers, Major Concepts, and Concept Codes; individual search fields for each subject index; and an updated design that includes tables in the full records. Available via ISI Web of Knowledge, BIOSIS Previews also includes searching and linking capabilities. BIOSIS Previews enables users to link to the full text of articles, cited references, times cited, and related records within Web of Science. Users can also link directly to Proceedings and Current Contents Connect.
