Thomson Gale, part of The Thomson Corporation and an e-information publisher, has introduced Corbis Images for Education, in collaboration with Corbis, a visual provider. Corbis Images for Education is intended to make available images that can not be found in news archives or on the open Web to use in a variety of learning-related applications, including: classroom projects and assignments; presentations; lesson plans; Web coursework; and other K-12 and higher educational purposes. This digital collection contains approximately 400,000 images from Corbis' image collections, including images from the Bettmann Archive, its Fine Art Collection, and its nature, science, space, and commercial stock collections. The images cover a variety of content, including paintings, sculpture, and architecture that span history, including photography from the Civil Rights era and World War.
