Thomson Derwent, a business of the Thomson Corporation has announced improved access to patent information via Derwent World Patents (DWPI) and DWPI First View--information products designed to deliver comprehensive and value-added patent information to customers as quickly as possible.

Currently containing approximately 13 million unique patent family records and with more than 1.5 million added each year from 40 patent-issuing authorities, DWPI is the Thomson Derwent flagship information solution. By September 2004, Thomson Derwent aims to load full value-added records for all patents from the key major patenting authorities to DWPI within 30 days of the date the patent is published. Improvements in DWPI timeliness are reflected in a corresponding reduction in the length of time that early release patent records remain in DWPI First View before being replaced by the full value-added record within DWPI.
