Thomas Technology Solutions, Inc. (ThomasTech), a software and systems integrator, has developed a new directory composition process for the Chain Store Guide's (CSG) 16 retail industry directories. CSG is a division of New York-based Lebhar-Friedman, Inc., a trade magazine and directory publisher focusing on the retail and food service industries.

ThomasTech replaced CSG's legacy composition system with XPP (XML Professional Publisher) from XyEnterprise, an XML-enabled page composition system. In addition, ThomasTech transitioned CSG to the new system so that the technology shift would not cause delays in their ongoing publishing schedules. For CSG's directory publishing needs, ThomasTech built a custom Java application that is designed to allow users to request dynamic database extracts tailored specifically to individual directory requirements. The XML output is used as input to the composition process.
