The Cleveland Clinic Radiology Department Implements Userplane

Apr 30, 2004

Userplane, a specialist in applying instant messaging to support live communications in the enterprise, has installed its Instant Communicator audio, video, and text messaging service in The Cleveland Clinic Radiology Department. Userplane Instant Communicator is designed to enable doctors and professional staff to contact and communicate with each other using high fidelity, low-bandwidth audio and video technology throughout a medical center that spans multiple buildings.

Userplane's Instant Communicator system delivers rich communication through compressed streaming audio and video on The Cleveland Clinic's existing computer network and PCs. Using Macromedia's Flash tool suite, Userplane Instant Communicator enables doctors and staff to see and hear each other in a live conversation, both within the facility and from the outside. Standard personal computers already present in the hospital use the facility's existing internal network to create a secure communications channel, including providing physicians with offsite access to the application.
