Navantis Inc., an information technology professional services firm, has announced that it is providing an interactive community Web portal in an effort to improve access to Sudbury's community services and information as part of the city's Smart Sudbury project. The community Web portal is designed to provide a one-stop online resource in both official languages for local citizens, organizations, and visitors.

The framework for the Web portal is the Navantis Community Municipal Portal (CMP) solution, which is based on the Microsoft platform. The solution is designed to bring government, citizens, and organizations together by ensuring community information and services are readily accessible. Additionally, by leveraging Internet technology, the Navantis CMP is intended to provide a flexible, modular framework that integrates with the city's existing infrastructure and legacy systems. Features of the Navantis CMP include a visitor center for tourism, ecommerce capabilities to support fundraising or donation activities, and applications that will assist individuals and organizations in daily activities. Additionally, the CMP will provide access to a Geographic Information System (GIS) for mapping.
