Telestream Announces FlipFactory Support For PacketVideo MPEG-4

Feb 04, 2003

Telestream, a provider of media encoding and delivery products for the entertainment industry, and PacketVideo Corporation, a mobile media software provider, have announced an agreement to include PacketVideo's MPEG-4 encoder as a standard format in Telestream's FlipFactory transcoding automation software. The combined solution is designed to enable content owners, mobile operators, and other service providers to automatically encode professional digital video and audio formats for optimal delivery to and playback on wireless devices such as cellular phones and PDAs. The PacketVideo MPEG-4 encoder provides video quality with more accurate color balance, automatic scene change detection, smoother video, and music at bitrates yielding up to CD quality. FlipFactory is used by media companies to automate the labor-intensive process of acquiring vast amounts of media from a variety of professional video systems, such as servers and editing systems, and converting it into digital formats. In addition, FlipFactory automatically delivers the resulting files to distribution servers, such as pvServer, for final distribution to destination devices. The PacketVideo MPEG-4 format is now available with all FlipFactory products and as a free upgrade for existing FlipFactory customers.
