TANDBERG, a global provider of visual communication, has introduced products that deliver video "anytime, anywhere, and for anyone," as well as upgrades to its video solution. The new visual communication offerings provide: Video anytime, where TANDBERG's Content Server converts any video system into a broadcast studio for streaming and archiving video calls. Users can create live and on-demand content from the office, home, or the road; Video anywhere, where TANDBERG's 3G Gateway allows 3G mobile phone users with video-enabled handsets to place video calls to any IP- and ISDN-based video endpoints; and Video for anyone, where TANDBERG's Compass MXP and Utility MXP endpoints are designed for immediate face-to-face information access in public spaces, such as information desks at airports and hotels, or emergency environments. The 3G Gateway is available in two versions with capacities of up to 8 or 30 simultaneous 3G-to-IP calls. It also embeds interactive voice and video response, and is Expressway enabled to ensure secure firewall traversal.
The company has also announced upgrades to its video solution that can improve the user's experience. Featuring a range of upgrades to infrastructure components, management software and video unit endpoints, the networked solution is designed to grow in tandem with an organization's own initiatives to strengthen collaboration and productivity. A key element of the upgraded infrastructure, the TANDBERG Media Processing System (MPS), a scalable multipoint conferencing unit, can also function as a high capacity gateway. The MPS features ad hoc "meet me" capabilities, creating virtual conference rooms in which video callers can assemble similar to telephone conferences. Video users can create and control multipoint conferences from Microsoft Office Communicator or connect over video using IBM Lotus Sametime. For administrators, TMS includes a new conference control application with ticketing service, enabling advanced conference control and monitoring for large organizations. TANDBERG endpoint products and upgrades are available now. TMS and MPS upgrades will be available mid-February 2006.
