Symyx Technologies and the Royal Society of Chemistry announced a collaborative effort to enhance the usability and accessibility of public scientific databases. The project will link related chemical structures between the RSC's ChemSpider database and Symyx's DiscoveryGate, giving scientists and researchers access to more complete and accurate information.

ChemSpider is a free-access search engine that indexes chemical structures and related information, while DiscoveryGate provides online access to chemical sourcing, organic synthesis, and reaction planning, as well as information on metabolism, toxicity, and other pharmacological data.

The two organizations previously collaborated on the development of the ChemMobi chemistry application for the iPhone.
