A study by mobile gaming researcher Mplayit recently outlined the differences in the social merchandising and mobile gaming markets between different mobile platforms, including the iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry devices. According to the survey, which was conducted through a statistical analysis of the habits of some 61,000 Facebook users, gaming was a much more popular activity on the iPhone as compared to the Android and BlackBerry, finding that iPhone users were four times more likely to be interested in gaming content than Android users, and almost twice as likely as BlackBerry users.

The survey also detailed several other trends, including the continued growth of locational services, the increasing popularity of barcode-scanning apps, and a lack of interest in Facebook with Blackberry users relative to the other two platforms.
