Squarespace Raises $38.5 Million in Funding

Squarespace, a web publishing platform, announced the closure of a $38.5 million minority growth investment, led by Index Ventures and Accel Partners. According to the company, this is the first outside capital raised by the company since its foundation in 2003.

As part of the transaction, Dominique Vidal of Index Ventures will join Squarespace's newly-formed board, along with Andrew Braccia of Accel Partners and Jonathan Klein of Getty Images. Founder Anthony Casalena will remain the company's largest shareholder.

Squarespace was founded by Anthony Casalena in 2003. Today, Squarespace services tens of thousands of websites worldwide, including businesses, bloggers, web developers, and artists. Its clients include Marc Ecko, Porter Novelli, Bob Woodruff, Kevin Pollak, and Don Imus.
