Sony has announced the late August launch of two new e-readers, one with a touch screen and one without. The touchscreen model will sell for $299 and the non-touchscreen model, called the Reader Pocket Edition, will be $199. The Pocket Edition's five-inch screen will be smaller than that on the Kindle and other Sony models, and unlike other readers, the Pocket Edition won't have the ability to play digital music files or a slot for a memory card to supplement its internal storage. Sony's readers don't have wireless access, as the Kindle does, but they will sell for significantly less. With the release of the new readers, Sony will discontinue production of its old PRS-505 reader.
