Apr 22, 2005

Sonic Foundry Inc., a provider of automated rich media solutions, has announced the availability of the Mediasite LX Rich Media Server, a new platform designed to give organizations automated control over the lifecycle of their rich media content. As the newest addition to the Mediasite line, the Mediasite LX Server is intended to expand a stand-alone Mediasite Recorder into a complete rich media communications system with live broadcasting, Web publishing, and content management capabilities.

The Mediasite LX Server supports both the Mediasite RL, a rackmountable rich media recorder for presentation and conferencing rooms, and the Mediasite ML, a portable rich media recorder designed for mobile applications, such as tradeshows and conferences. Newly expanded browser support, which now includes Mozilla Firefox, makes Mediasite content compatible with desktop operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Mac OSR, Unix, and Linux.

Key features of the Mediasite LX Server include: interactive live broadcasting, rich media content management, content security, system administration and reporting, presenter self-service, a customized viewer experience, and automated workflow. Mediasite's design allows users to capture, distribute, and manage their own presentations without requesting assistance from IT staff. At the same time, system administrators have a suite of centralized management tools allowing them to secure content access, monitor and report on system usage, and customize presenter and viewer experiences with Mediasite. The Mediasite LX Rich Media Server is available for immediate shipment. It is priced from $7,950.
