Smartwebs, a provider of Web-based content management applications, has announced the availability of Smartwebs IRT, the company's flagship content management solution (CMS). Smartwebs IRT is designed to empower content providers and Web professionals to maintain their Web sites or Intranet content while saving time, money, and company resources. Smartwebs has deployed Smartwebs IRT, sold on a subscription or licensed model, to companies including Harvard University, AMICA Mutual Insurance, The Boston Consortium, eLottery, and Campus Fundraiser.
Smartwebs IRT is built around a workflow philosophy that avoids information bottlenecks by spreading updating responsibility across designated content authors throughout the organization. With no programming knowledge, these content authors and Web professionals can take control of their content management needs by updating or adding critical content to a company Web site or intranet on a regular basis. Smartwebs IRT offers an expandable and flexible set of tools that range from basic updating capabilities for existing pages to more complex site-building and workflow.
Each of the following components can be added individually or together as part of a complete package. Content Manager--Allows customers to update Web pages in real time. It can be integrated into either a new or existing site. Content Manager is designed for novices as well as experienced Web professionals. Site Builder--Intended for users who want to do more than simple updates. Users can control an entire site, including creation of new pages and content areas. Developer--Allows users to create and customize stand-alone sub sites in conjunction with Smartwebs Site Builder. Sub-site creation is a one-step process that requires no programming, file transfer, or database set-up. Modules--Predefined components that allow users to perform department specific tasks. Users can add one or more modules as needed. Current modules include: Events, News, Press Releases, Job Openings, Forms, Polls, and Document Management.
