SirsiDynix, a provider of technology solutions for libraries, announced the successful transition of its software-as-a-service (SaaS) hosting facilities to Atlanta-based Quality Technology Services. SirsiDynix says it selected QualityTech because of the company’s new, state-of-the-art facilities in metro Atlanta and its track record as one of the largest privately held providers of data center facilities and managed services in the U.S., boasting approximately 1 million square feet of computer center infrastructure. During the move, which took place Jan. 16–Feb. 12, and was necessitated by a change in ownership of SirsiDynix’s previous hosting center, team members moved more than 135 servers, storage devices and network appliances during the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each night. More than 850 SirsiDynix customers’ hosted systems were involved in the move with little to no disruption of service. In addition to migrating SirsiDynix servers and infrastructure to this new facility, the company also took the opportunity to perform a number of forward-looking upgrades. Some of these upgrades include a major firewall upgrade to increase LAN speeds on all firewalls, switches and servers; upgraded SAN fabric to provide 4Gb/s throughput; and an upgrade to the backup and archive infrastructure utilizing enterprise-class backup software.
